This project was starting at 2017, it’s a small and high precision prototype tool at the very beginning, the pruchase order is about few thousand dollars. We forgot how many times we tested the tool and how many times that the part need modification. Such as, change the gate location, wall thickness, material hardness, change the part design, change part dimensions and so on. For example the part’s membranere places need the wall thickness only 0.1mm due to the requirement of its function, it has high requirement to the material thickness. Once, It took two weeks to get few qualified samples, because tearing is easily happening when demoudling the big undercuts. Then material hardness must reach 80A, Ebest tried more than ten different methos. Through using 80A/60A combined material finally solved this issue. This question was asked by many customers who normally have 3~5 mould suppliers in China. For example, a customer requires the mould cycle time to be 30s. However, when the mould exported to the client, the cycle time is 60s, no matter how they modify the process it’s useless. Does your company have the same experience? There are many reasons will effect the cycle time, today I’d like to share the most important reasons and solutions. 1.When we receive customers requirement of the mould, we will carefully check it, the mould life, surface requirement, raw material, cycle time and so on. 2.Then will make professional mouldflow analysis to the parts which we are not familiar, it can reflect the injection point, fill time,Packing/Holding time ,Cooling time , the injection pressure, clamp force, shot size and so on, even tonnage force required to hold the shut during the moulding process. 3.According to the mould flow analysis result, we will pay more attention to the gate location, cooling line, it determines the injection cycle time. 4.Use proper tonnage injection machine to trail the mould, this is very very important. Our factory is equipped with advanced injection machines replacing the old machines because they were different from European standard machines. Sometimes we had to use a too large machine to try a small mould only because the mould thickness is beyond, it caused the parameter completely wrong. Our new machines’ function are more similar to European Standard and by using proper tonnage machines to the mould trial will guarantee the cycle time. So making sure to do the right thing ay each step is crucial.
